Qualification Men: Switzerland vs. India

Schweiz Indien männlich

The women from the USA didn’t make it, but perhaps  India is able to get the sensation.

This five guys will try it: Gopal Chowdary, Kevin Kennedy, Kailash Chelaram, Magesh Kumar and Bhuvanash Kumar.

The favorites come from Europe from Switzerland and will start like this: Max Krebser (TSV Jona), Yannick Landolt (both TSV Jona), Captain Rico Strassmann , Leon Heinz (both FG Elgg-Ettenhausen) and Markus Butscher (FG Rickenbach).

  1. Set:

Indie can take the lead 2:1. Yannick Landolt has found the weak spot in the indian team and scores 3 in a row: 4:2. Time Out for India at 7:3 for Switzerland. They can’t bring that much pressure to the swiss defense, but sometimes they have very good actions. Now a very clever point by Max Krebser at the service line and now many set points for Switzerland. Mistake at the service line and 1:0 for Switzerland at 11:4.

  1. Set:

Again the first point goes to India but Switzerland egalizes it to 1:1. Yannick Landolt and Max Krebser to 4:1 for Switzerland. Very difficult for Gopal Chowdary Faulal at the service line, because the swiss defense stands very solid. Out of bounce by Yannick Landolt and so India gets the next point: 3:6. Time Out India after three more points by the inchanged Tim Egolf (STV Oberentfelden) and the Match ball at 10:3. And Yannick Landolt over front left to the Semi final against Austria. 11:3 and 2:0.

Qualification Women: Switzerland vs. USA

Schweiz USA weiblich

The first match of the third day starts with the elimination round between Switzerland and the USA.

Switzerland starts with Sara Peterhans (Satus Kreuzlingen), Eva Tüscher , Sina Meier, Captain Jamie Bucher (all SVD Diepoldsau) and Lea Zeltner (FB Neuendorf).

The Americans will try the sensation with Alexx Berdej, Kate Tagliareni, Captain Christine Connelly, Bayleigh Takacs and Kelli Vogel.

  1. Set:

The USA start very ambiotious and earn the lead for it 3:2. Now the first lead for Switzerland after a service mistake by Kate Tagliareni -> 5:4. Now Sara Peterhans can score more and more, so Steve Groeber takes the Time Out at 8:4 for Switzerland. No Kate Taglareni stopped the swiss run: 9:5. Then the ace by Sara Peterhans and set points for Switzerland: 10:6. First chance is taken and the swiss go in front with 1:0.

  1. Set:

Switzerland changed in Noemi Egolf (STV Oberentfelden), Tanja Bognar and Mirjam Schlattinger (both SVD Diepoldsau) for Jamie Bucher, Sara Peterhans and Lea Zeltner. Kumali Schoen anmd Kayley Moran enter the court for Alexx Berdej and Kelli Vogel at the American Team. In fast gear the ladies in red goes in front: 6:2 after a few minutes. Time Out from USA to take the last chance at 2:8. But it doesn’t help: 10:2 and 8 Match balls for Switzerland. Nice ball by Eva Tüscher over the left front brings the Semi final against Germany for Switzerland.

Austria vs. Switzerland male

The court looks still very nice and will offer perfect conditions for the first match of the day: Austria vs Switzerland.

Austria will start with Captain Martin Pühringer (DSG Froschberg), Christian Seidl (Union Waldburg), Matthias Aichberger (Union Compact Freistadt), Simon Dihlmann (Askö Seekirchen) and Nicolas Voit (Union Compact Freistadt).

Fabio Kunz will place Yannick Landolt (TSV Jona), Tim Egolf (STV Oberentfelden), Captain Rico Strassmann , Leon Heitz (both FG Elgg) and Björn Haller (FB Neuendorf) against them.

  1. Set:

Good beginning of the Austrian offense, both hitter are succesfull. Switzerland has to work a lot, but can keep the connection: 3:2 Austria. Christian Seidl seems to be in a very good shape, 4 hits and 4 points, but Tim Egolf has a good day, too, so the game still close at 6:5 Austria. Insane defense by Yannick Landolt against Seidl, but the second chance for Austria is converted by Martin Pühringer: 8:5. The jump serves of Tim Egolf become more difficult because of the wind, so more mistakes to set points for Austria 10:6. The first chance takes Martin Pühringer who sets the ball over the line directly to 11:6 and 1:0 Austria.

  1. Set:

Austria changed to the beginning of set 2: Captain Martin Pühringer leaves the court for Leonid Scheidler (Askö Seekirchen).  But that doesn’t make them weak: Again the lead for Austria and the Time Out by Fabio Kunz and Switzerland at 4:2 for Austria. Absolutely outstanding offense play of Team Austria, no chance for the swiss defense at this time. 7:3 Austria. More risk now by Yannick Landolt and Tim Egolf, but even when they score, Christian Seidl gives the perfect answer with his service: 10:6 and again four set points for Austria. Now Fabio Kunz tries another option and brings Max Krebser (TSV Jona) for Yannick Landolt in the offense. And again with an service ace ends Christian Seidl the set: 11:7 and 2:0 for Team Austria.

  1. Set:

Again changes in the break: Team Austria replaces Christian Seidl and Simon Dihlmann with Jakob Schicho (DSG Froschberg) and Lorenz Maringer (Union Nussbach). And Switzerland brings back Yannick Landolt for Max Krebser, and also Markus Butscher (FG Rickenbach-Willen) for Björn Haller. But we can’t see anything new: Even Leonid Scheidler seems to be too strong for the swiss team: 5:3 Team Austria. Switzerland winds a chance how it seems, and they can tie the game at 6:6. Time Out after two more points by Jakob Schicho, taken by Fabio Kunz to give a last briefing. Austria changes back to get the safe way: Martin Pühringer back for Leonid Scheidler and Markus Reinegger (TV Enns) for Matthias Aichberger. Now 10:7 and three Matchballs and the first one ends this match, because the service touches the line, so Team Austria wins 11:7 and 3:0.

Germany vs. Switzerland female

After a beautiful opening cerenomy the audience is ready for the last women’s match of this first day in Eibach.

Germany and Switzerland are facing each other now.

Laux/Schröder are sending Captain Svenja Schröder (TV Eibach 03), Henriette Schell (TSV Calw), Laura Kauk (TV Jahn Schneverdingen), Ida Hollmann (TV Brettorf) and Merle Bremer (TV Jahn Schneverdingen) on the court.

Michael Suter chooses Sara Peterhans (Satus Kreuzlingen), Eva Tüscher, Captain Mirjam Schlattinger, Jamie Bucher (all SVD Diepoldsau) and Noemi Egolf (STV Oberentfelden) against them.

  1. Set:

It seems like we have our first injury. Tanja Bognar isn’t even in her dress at the court. The ladies in red want to show that the rest of the team is also able to play fistball and put more pressure on the germans than the most thought. But almost every attack from Germany is a point also -> 5:4 germany. Insane defense play by Mirjam Schlattinger and Noemi Egolf and at the end there is the point and the lead for it: 7:6 Switzerland. It’s a very tight game, but not 3 set points for Germany at 10:7, so Michael Suter takes his Time Out. And the service after touches the line, so 11:7 and 1:0 for Germany.

  1. Set:

Sara Peterhans becomes stronger and gets applause from the fans, who came from the alps to Nuremberg. But two mistakes now at the service and then Time Out by her coach at 4:1 Germany. Mistake after Mistake at the Service line. 6:1 now. Time Out Germany at 8:1 to make substitutes. Katja Hutz (Ohligser TV) and Karen Schulz (TK Hannover) come for Svenja Schröder and Merle Bremer. Nice Overview by Henriette Schell and many set points at 10:2 for Germany. Eva Tüscher ends it personally, because her service is out of bounce. 11:2 and 2:0 Germany.

  1. Set:

One more substitute on the both sides. Marie Hodel (TSV Bayer 04 Leverkusen) enters the game for Henriette Schell. Lorena Lipp (SVD Diepoldsau) replaces her teammate Eva Tüscher. At the standing of 4:1 the last german substitutes Liza Martens (TSV Wiemersdorf) and Agugste Grothoff (TV Eibach 03) come for Ida Hollmann and Laura Kauk. Now at 5:2 Mirjam Schlattinger leaves the court to make place for Sina Meier (SVD Diepoldsau). Very smart by Auguste Grothoff, who puts the second ball over and surprised the whole swiss team -> 6:2. Nice services by Marie Hodel, 9:5 for Germany. A good attack by Sara Peterhans, but a little too far, so Matchballs Germany: 10:6. Katja Hutz ends the game with an nice long hit over the middle. 11:6 and 3:0 Germany.
